It’s game day!
This is the one day of the week you allow yourself to really let loose and eat anything and everything. For most of you, this includes brats, buffalo wings, pizza, barbecue, chili cheese fries, and every other artery clogging table fare imaginable. Health food? Hardly. But is it game day after all.
I realize that I won’t be able to talk most of you down off the ledge, so here is something so simple you can do to help lessen the negative impact on those foods.
I call it, The Game Day Smoothie. It is super cheap, healthy, and delicious. Have one of these in the morning and you will feel so much better before, during, and after the game.
So how does it help?
First, this smoothie is rich in Potassium. The foods you will consume on game days are loaded with salt. Did you know that cheese has more salt per ounce than potato chips? Salt plays a huge role in raising blood pressure, and it is Potassium that helps your body bring things back into balance. Eating a ton of salt with no potassium is a recipe for increased blood pressure that will likely leave you with a headache at best, or a heart attack at worst.
Second, thanks to the fresh spinach your digestive track will have a much easier time relieving you of the half pound chili burger you consumed at half time. You don’t want that thing sitting in your large intestine for too long causing problems. Get it out of there!
